Industrial PVC Curtains
Industrial PVC Curtains

Many industrial units & factories need to keep a door open to the outside, to allow deliveries, people, forklift trucks, and products to enter and exit easily, however many of these premises, don’t have Industrial PVC Curtains.

Although this may be a requirement for many businesses, it can make for an uncomfortable time during autumn & winter  time for staff who need to work in an area which needs easy access.

Additionally, in these days of high energy costs for both lighting and heating, you can possibly do more for your employees; practically and economically.

Our solution is our range of DOP Free Industrial PVC Curtains which help retain heat, even with roller shutters and doors open.

Our industrial clear curtains enable easy access through an open door, whilst retaining warmth inside the area.

How do they work?

They work by hanging PVC strips, from a rail above the opening. For easy access, you simply move the individual strips to the side when staff, drivers, forklift truck operators, and other visitors need to pass through them.

Styles of Industrial PVC Curtains

There are several types and grades of PVC Strip Curtain that can be used in your workplace or factory.

Each style of PVC strip has its own advantages, and different styles are suited to different applications.

The main types and styles we supply are:

  • Super Clear Standard Grade – Crystal clear standard PVC, which offers great visibility and a good level of insulation, suitable for temperatures down to -10° C.
  • Polar/Freezer Grade – the perfect grade for very low temperatures – primarily, freezers, and any other very cold areas where temperatures are below -10° C.
  • Ribbed/Bumper Grade – ribbed PVC, sometimes referred to as bumper strips are designed for high traffic, heavy-usage areas, where pallets, and forklift trucks need access.
  • Perforated PVC – this style is a an alternative grade, best suited to food preparation areas, kitchens, canteens and other workplaces. It provides excellent ventilation whilst deterring entry of pests and insects. It also helps you comply with food legislation or other hygiene requirements.

What type of hanging system shall I use for my door?

Different door styles, and different environments mean we offer a choice of two hanging systems

Industrial PVC Curtains Hook-On
Industrial PVC Curtains Bolt-On

Hook-On

Bolt-On

Specifically designed for pedestrian and light duty doorways, our ‘Hook on’ system is the most popular, as it is a simple task to replace strips should you ever need to, plus cleaning them is made easier by the fact that they just “un-hook”.

Our ‘Bolt-on’ system is usually used with heavier, thicker, wider grades of PVC as opposed to the thinner, narrower grades. It is commonly used for large roller shutter openings, or areas which have heavy fork-lift traffic.

What sort of PVC do I need for my Industrial PVC Curtains?

Internal doors with standard levels of use in relatively wind free areas need a minimum strip width and thickness of 200mm x 2mm.

If this traffic includes FLT’s, then you should consider using 300mm wide PVC strips.

High external and openings  in windy areas require, thicker, heavier duty strips to ensure a good overlap to retain either warmth or chilled air. We would recommend, either 3mm or 4mm, in 300mm or 400mm widths. On the other hand, the ribbed grades provide additional weight, meaning they won’t move as much in external or windier environments.

You can read more about our range of PVC styles including colours, widths and thicknesses, alongside our “special” styles here.

N.B. We do not advise using Industrial PVC Curtains where cars or other vehicles need access, due to potential scratching. Instead, read all about our “Sliding System” here.

PVC Curtains for employee safety.

There are numerous HSE (Health & Safety) benefits gained from using PVC strip curtains around your  factory or warehouse in addition to keeping heat in

PVC Curtains protect staff & visitors in a variety of ways, by reducing noise, retaining warmth and providing excellent clarity through the curtains.

Also, Plastic Strip Curtains can reduce the amount of pollen, powder and dust in the air. One example that we installed at a well know sweet manufacturer in York, was designed to stop icing sugar contaminating other products as the company also used compressed air on the floor.

Additionally, they prevent entry by birds and vermin.
