How PVC Curtains Can Be Used in the Home

If you are looking at buying PVC curtains for your workplace, you may be surprised to learn that they can also be very useful inside the home. They are not simply one-dimensional and can actually have a wide range of uses depending on your needs. Here are a few ideas for how they could improve your home space.

Dog or cat flaps

If you have a pet that loves to go and run around outside, you will no doubt want to create a way for them to slip out whenever they like. If you also have an enclosed back garden with no risk of other pets getting in through your door flap, you can easily install something for your pets to run and jump through. A cat flap, as it is commonly known, can also be useful for dogs – though they are rarely large enough for most breeds. Install your own with PVC curtains and you will prevent cold air or insects from getting through, while allowing your pet to jump in and out as much as it wants to. If you have an unusually large or small breed of pet, this allows you to create something that fits them perfectly without having to pay a premium price.

Insect screens

Speaking of insects, these can be a real nuisance, especially in hot weather. All you want to do is open the windows or leave your patio door propped open, but if you do, insects will swarm inside your home. There is a very simple solution to that – just install PVC curtains. While they will not allow as much cool air through as having the door fully open, they will stop insects from coming in. You can even have them installed on a sliding rail so that they can be pulled across or left to one side as you wish. They will also work to prevent small pests from coming in, thanks to their weight, whilst not being so heavy that a child or pet would not be able to push through them. It’s a great solution which should suit everyone.

Child-friendly doors

Do you have a toddler that is starting to tear around the house? Especially if they have a tendency to be clumsy, children can run into a lot of trouble with wooden doors. The edges are sharp and heavy and can cause injuries, and the wood itself can cause splinters. When they run into one without looking, they could end up seriously hurting themselves. Finally, as any parent knows, a solid surface is something that any child could take their felt tip pens to! With a PVC curtain strip instead of a door, you can have all of the benefits of a door but with none of these downsides. A child running into them will simply go straight through, and they can be seen on the other side through the clear material. If they do decide to make some impromptu art on the curtains, they can simply be wiped clean. It’s a perfect way to child-proof the home.

Smoke and smell screens

If you have an open plan kitchen which leads into another room, it can be wonderful to have everything as part of the same space. On the other hand, it can also cause problems with the scents of cooking, and smoke or steam, drift around the whole area. You can segregate the room in half by adding a screen of PVC curtains. The smells and smoke will stay in the kitchen for the most part, and if you have them put on a rail, you can also slide them back when the extractor fan has done its work. This gives you the best of both worlds – an open plan kitchen which nonetheless retains its smells and smokes rather than spreading them around the house.

These uses for PVC curtains may not strike you as obvious right away, but actually they are very useful and improve your enjoyment of your home greatly. If you have pets or children in particular, they can work to make your home into a much safer environment for your whole family to enjoy.
